Spring Term, 2025
Nick Payne's play 'Constellations', explores how the smallest of changes in our lives can dramatically alter the course we take. It explores themes of love, science, heartbreak and hope. The costumes and set transformed into a 'Universe' at the end of this play through the use of Ultra Violet Paint, where every world became one.

When designing "Constellations," I maintained constant communication with Director Francesca Goodridge and set designer Yonqian Chen (Christine).
I began my process by thoroughly understanding the script and the story. I developed mood boards and initial concept boards, and engaged in conversations with the director and set designers to create a cohesive design. It was crucial to the director that the play felt immersive and connected to both the space and the characters.
To develop the characters, I delved deeper into the script, extracting hints about their personalities and hobbies to costume them accurately. I based the colour schemes on the mood boards, which helped identify the multiple versions of "Roland" and "Marianne." This was particularly important as the two characters were portrayed by multiple actors.
Throughout the design and realising processes, as well as during tech week, I was very hands-on and organised. I managed the budget, costume bible, and coordinated talks and meetings with the director and production team. I was present at all fittings and alterations to ensure everything was perfect.
