Hello, my name is Olivia Lewis, and I am a Costume Maker and Designer based in South Wales (Swansea/Cardiff).

I began my creative journey by studying Fashion & Textile Design alongside Photography at A-Level, followed by a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Gower College (Llwyn Y Bryn). During this time, I explored a wide range of materials and techniques, including ceramics, fine art, textiles, and photography. I honed skills such as free-motion embroidery, garment construction, dyeing, and stitching, which became the foundation for my passion for costume design.

In 2022, I had the honor of competing in the WorldSkills Wales competition, where I earned the Bronze Medal for Fashion Design & Technology. The task challenged me to reconstruct a garment using two white shirts and an additional material while incorporating sustainability principles. This experience was both rewarding and inspiring, and I am incredibly proud to have represented my craft.

With a love for hands-on creativity, I chose to study Design for Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD). This program allowed me to dive deeply into costume design and making, gaining invaluable industry skills across a range of productions, including musicals, operas, and dramas. Through these projects, I developed expertise in sourcing costumes on a budget, meeting tight deadlines, and translating designers' sketches into completed garments.

I also had the opportunity to design costumes for both a musical and a drama, where I managed a team of Costume Assistants and worked closely with directors and cast members. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my career and solidifying my love for storytelling through costume design.
